Children Service
Learn moreStop’s Children / Tamariki Service provides specialist assessment, consultation, and intervention for children aged 5–12, who display sexualized or concerning sexual behaviours. Our experienced clinicians deliver evidence-based, trauma-informed programmes and continually aspire to integrate the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We work collaboratively with professionals, parents, guardians, and whānau to understand behaviours, promote safe development, and provide guidance in responding appropriately. Programmes may include individual, play-based sessions with the child, as well as support and education for whānau and caregivers, helping children develop safe relationships, healthy boundaries, and positive social skills.

Adolescent Service

We work collaboratively with professionals, whānau, and support networks to promote accountability, strengthen relationships, and reduce the risk of further harm. Programmes include individual, group, and whānau sessions tailored to each young person’s needs, supporting them to take responsibility, develop safer behaviours, and build positive, meaningful futures.

Adult Service
Learn moreStop’s Adult / Pakeke Service provides specialist assessment, intervention, and support for adults aged 18 years and over, who have engaged in harmful or experiencing concerning sexual behaviour. Our experienced clinicians deliver evidence-based, trauma-informed programmes and continually aspire to integrate the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We work collaboratively with professionals, whānau, and support networks to promote accountability, strengthen relationships, and reduce the risk of further harm. Programmes include individual, group, and whānau sessions tailored to each client’s needs, supporting them to take responsibility, develop safer behaviours, and lead meaningful, safe lives.
The following programmes are delivered:
Facing the Future Programme
This programme is offered to individuals who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour against a child, adolescent and or adult
Concerning Sexual Ideation
This programme is offered to individuals who are experiencing sexual thoughts or fantasies that if acted upon would cause harm. These thoughts can be distressing and impact on an individuals' mental health.
Problematic pornography programme
This programme is for individuals who recognise changes in their online behaviour, including an increasing pull towards riskier content, and who are seeking support to make safer choices.
Good Lives programme
This programme is specifically designed to support individuals with an intellectual or learning disability who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour.

Prevention & Education
Learn moreStop’s Prevention and Education Service provides specialist training, workshops, and online resources to support professionals in responding effectively to sexualised behaviour displayed by tamariki, rangatahi and pakeke. Our evidence-informed, interactive programmes equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise concerning behaviours, respond safely, and support children, young people and adults in developing healthy boundaries and relationships.
We work with professionals across early childhood, school, tertiary education, residential facilities, community services, faith-based organisations, providing guidance on age-expected behaviour, trauma-informed approaches, disclosure response, and practical strategies for safe intervention.
Our online hub, PressPause, offers modules and resources designed to help adults identify concerning sexualised behaviour in rangatahi, navigate complex conversations, and promote safer relationships.

Families and schools reported greater confidence and skill in recognizing and responding to these behaviours.

View our Research and ProjectsYoung people who complete treatment are far less likely to re-engage in sexual harm — 2% compared to 10% for those who drop out and 6% for those who receive no treatment.
Programmes support improved mental health, wellbeing, and family engagement

Pakeke / Adult:
View our Research and ProjectsTreatment can significantly reduce recidivism rates for those who engage in intervention. A 2012 study found a 5.2% recidivism rate for those who completed community-based programs, compared to a rate of 16-21% for untreated individuals. Treatment effectiveness is highest for those who complete the programs, highlighting the importance of treatment completion and program structure.
Our intervention programme demonstrates a 93% increase in protective factors, 92% decrease in risk factors, and 87% of clients who have engaged and completed intervention.
