Working to STOP sexual abuse for a safer community

Welcome to the STOP Adult's Programme

The STOP Adult Programme provides treatment for adult men over the age of 19 who have sexually abused or offended regardless of whether they have been formally charged or convicted.  An Assisted Learning Programme (ALP) for men with intellectual disabilities and learning difficulties is also provided in Christchurch and Dunedin.

The Adult Programme works in a systemic way with men who have sexually abused and their systems.  This encompasses specialist risk assessment. for the men which includes, where relevant ,a cultural aspect to the assessment. In recognising the impact on their partner/significant other as well as the role of protection undertaken by family members,  an "ability to protect" assessment is completed followed by an education group work programme.
